Turkish born artist Betil Dagdelen, developed an interest for textiles in her quest to study and understand patterns. Wanting to learn the most traditional techniques of weaving, Betil travelled to indigenous communities in New Mexico, Peru and her native country Turkey where she worked with master weavers. Dagdelen adopts these techniques through traveling into her furniture and using their frames as the loom.
Dagdelen moved to New York in 2000 and began her career as a production designer in the fields of fashion and film. She divides her time between New York and California deserts.
